Though Josephus Thimister is new to haute couture, he isn't new to the fashion industry. The former lead designer for Balenciaga has returned after a 9 year absence following the downfall of his very own label. Since then he has been hard at work as creative director for the shoe-maker Charles Jourdan and other sought after labels. Now he's been summoned by the French fashion world to design couture. So how does Thimister debut his couture enterprise? An assortment of WWI inspired articles varying from blood stained tank tops to dresses that bear a resemblance to bloody flesh - a very dark inspiration and something that isn't new to Thimister. His previous collections have consisted of such themes like terrorism. I was happy to see that he exhibited menswear in correlation with womenswear. His leather Eisenhower jacket is pretty much to die for - literally. I'm such a sucker for vintage.
I finally sat down to get this thing rolling again and at the peak of the Couture shows in ol' Paris! I only really look out for those really great visionaries like John Galliano for Dior and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. Here's a sneak.
